Breakfast this morning was another pie-inspired oatmeal creation. Yesterday I picked up some frozen rhubarb, because I love me some rhubarb pie. Strawberry rhubarb is good too, but ultimately, I like my rhubarb straight up in a pie. But for my first rhubarb oats, I did chickened out, and go for the safer strawberry rhubarb combo.
- 1/2 cup oats, milk, water
- 6 frozen strawberries
- 1/2 cup frozen rhubarb
- splash of vanilla
- 2 tbsp wheat berries
- 2 tsp flaxseed
- sprinkle of brown sugar
- 3 walnuts
With…can you guess? I’m sure you can.
I was worried the rhubarb was going to be very tart, but it wasn’t really. I probably could have gotten away without adding any brown sugar on top. Note for next time! But it was a lovely bowl of oats. And did you know that 1/2 cup serving of rhubarb gives you about 20% of your daily calcium intake for only 25 calories? Gotta love that!
We had a breakfast visitor this morning. I would call this Sienna’s Kitty Friend, but they weren’t making very nice noises at each other.
And yes, my blinds are ruined. Sienna has done that so she can look out her window. I figure there is no point in replacing them until I leave, because she would just ruin another set anyways. Besides, these blinds don’t even fit this window properly – they are too long and a bit too wide, so really, I’m doing my landlords a favour! Or something.
Well, time to finish packing that lunch so I can head to work. Yippee!

Pie on a bowl with a glass of MPP… holy yum.
Love the photo of Sienna looking at the “kitty friend” (and vice versa)!!
HAPPY MONDAY!!
I can honestly say, I have never had rhubarb in my entire life! Is that anti-American of me?!
Have a great Monday!!
What a great bowl of oats!
I have never tried rhubarb before!
Fabulous sounding oats! I just found a bag of rhubarb that I cleaned and prepped last year in my freezer!
Love Sienna making sure that other cat knows who the boss is!
Hahahaha oh my god! I can relate to so much here! Of course you can call the outsider Sienna’s kitty friend – they don’t have to be friends. Henry and Annie hiss and growl at Kitty Friend all the time and then she moans. It’s SO funny.
Annie ruined our blinds at one apartment and we had to pay $300. Oy.
Our cats! I love how you include Sienna in so many posts. I love her. She’s such a funny meow meow.
This dish looks incredibly delicious and very healthy!
